FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a modern, forward-thinking approach that helps you make positive changes by focusing on your desired future rather than dwelling on or having to discuss trauma or negative feelings from the past. It combines psychotherapy, an understanding of how the brain works and how it can adapt and build new neural pathways to encourage lasting change, with deep relaxation techniques to reduce stress.
How can hypnotherapy help with anxiety or stress?
Hypnotherapy can help calm the mind, improve sleep and break the cycle of anxious thinking. By using positive language and focusing on solutions it supports the brain in forming new, more helpful patterns of thought and behaviour, helping you feel more in control.
What issues can solution-focused hypnotherapy help with?
It’s commonly used for anxiety, stress, panic attacks, low mood, sleep problems, lack of confidence, overwhelm, persistent pain, menopause symptoms, exams nerves, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), addiction, general well-being, weight management, smoking and vaping cessation, phobias and even performance-related issues. If you're not sure whether it's right for you, please contact me to arrange a call to talk it through.
What happens during a hypnotherapy session?
Each session starts with a relaxed conversation where we talk about your progress and future goals. How your brain may be preventing you from moving forward and what techniques can help. Then you'll enjoy a guided relaxation that helps calm the mind and strengthen positive thinking patterns. You're always in control and most clients find it deeply calming.
Will I be asleep or under your control?
Not at all. You’ll be in a relaxed but alert state, much like daydreaming and always in control. You can hear everything and you're free to stop at any time. Hypnotherapy is about working together in a focused, calm state.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on what you’d like help with. Many clients start to feel benefits within a few sessions but lasting change usually takes a little longer. We’ll work at your pace and review progress together regularly.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, it is a safe, therapeutic approach that integrates neuroscience principles. I’m fully trained by CPHT, regularly undertake continuing professional development, registered with the AfSFH and NCH, insured and DBS checked. Your well-being is always my priority.
Can I have sessions online? Are they just as effective?
Absolutely. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person appointments. Many clients find them more convenient and just as relaxing in the comfort of their own home.
What’s the difference between solution-focused hypnotherapy and other types?
Unlike traditional hypnotherapy we don’t explore past trauma or problems. Instead, we focus on what’s working, what you want to achieve and how to get there in a gentle, structured and positive way.
Who do you work with?
I work with anyone who is in secondary education and upwards.
Do you offer hypnotherapy for businesses or employees?
Yes, I work with businesses to support staff well-being, reduce stress-related absences and boost resilience. Whether it’s individual support or a trusted referral option, I’m happy to talk about what’s possible.
